Ted Forrest, the six times World Series of Poker Champion is facing two felony charges over a $215,000 debt owed to the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas.
Forrest, 51 of Las Vegas is accused of failing to pay-off the debt, an IOU to the casino known as a ‘casino marker’. The Wynn Casino initially issued Forrest with a credit account in October 2012 and again in May 2013.
Forrest appeared before a Las Vegas judge to receive notice of a preliminary hearing on the 18th October which will determine if he is to face a state court where he could receive up to 14 years in prison if convicted on felony theft and bad check charges.
Forrest and his Attorney are contesting the charges, insisting that the money was a loan and no crime has been committed.
It was a loan. He didn't commit a crime. They sent him to the bank to open a $100 bank account. They knew he didn't have the money. And now they take years to prosecute.
The Las Vegas courts earn 10% processing fee plus other prosecution fees from any successful settlement from a gambling debt against a casino.
