Gambling and Hookers Charged to Australian Defence Expense Accounts
After a review of public spending at the Australian Defence Department, it was discovered the public money was been spent on Hookers and Gambling.
While the sums involved were relatively small, over $1,000 was paid for ‘dating and escort agencies’ by one or more cheeky individuals, of the $1,160 that was found to be inappropriately funded by the tax payer from expense accounts. Smaller amounts were also found to have been charged for casino gaming.
While the amount spent on Hookers and Gambling is quite small, there has been a greater interest in golf. Millions of dollars has paid for expensive golf memberships by the department’s personnel.
The defence department has vowed to crack-down on expense abuse but with over 100,000 expense cards in circulation it will be a tough job for someone.
In 2015, an expense card found its way in to the hands of an unknown person who ran up half a million dollars of purchases without anyone’s knowledge at the Australian Defence Department.
