Max Kruse is a pretty good footballer who plays for the German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg who has also played for the German International team.
Kruse is also a decent poker player; he finished 26th in the 2015 World Series of Poker, $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship in Las Vegas in a field of 387. The year before he came close to winning the $1,500 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball event before eventually finishing 3rd and cashing for $36,494 in a of field 241.
Kruse had played in a World Series of Poker tournament held in Berlin in October 2015 and had cashed for 75,000 euros in the event.
Unfortunately for Kruse, on his way home he accidentally left his winnings, all 75,000 euros in the taxi. On realising his forgetfulness he contacted the police but his money has not been returned.
To compound matters worse for the footballer, his club Wolfsburg have fined him 25,000 euros for his actions which does seem harsh and now puts him down a cool 100,000 euros for his memory lapse.
You might be a private person as a footballer when you are in your bed. At any other point, you are also an employee of the club.
We have explained to him what sort of behaviour we expect from our players.
I can only hope that he has been taught a lesson and will change his behaviour.
