Thi Lien Chu, a small time-time baccarat casino cheat has been caught trying to scam the Richmond River Rock Casino.
Chu, 45, from Vancouver was previously banned from the provinces casinos in 2011 after being caught swapping chips with others at the casino.
Her suspicious behaviour was noticed several times and when the dealer was distracted she would move her chips over to the winning hand.
After several attempts to place chips she was questioned by casino staff. She insisted her attempts at late bets were merely jokes.
The accused (then) made overt gestures with with her hand, clapping the table to try to draw attention to her hand.
Chu, did manage the trick several times without being noticed and collected $4,550 for her nights work until being caught in the act, at around 5am.
Chu paid back all her winnings after being caught. She pleaded guilty in court to the Canadian crime of “Cheating at play” for which she received a 35 hour community service and a small fine. She also received a further ban from the provinces casino until 2019.
Chu, who had money troubles at the time, now insists her troubles are over. In a recent trip to Las Vegas she never even felt inclined to gamble.
