Asian High-Rollers Hit Sidney’s Star Casino

A small group of Asian high-rollers betting up to $500,000 per hand at Baccarat sunk a huge hole in the Star Casino’s profits.

The six individuals beat the Sydney based casino’s theoretical 1.43% house edge with a good run of luck at the tables which decimated the hotels profits by half. The Asian VIP’s had bet a total of $22 billion over six months, finishing up $80 million against the casino.

That was a freakish result. It was about six individuals who accounted for most of that loss. They were high rolling, big risk taking individuals who happened to have a lucky run here. They are all individuals who are well known to us - who have been coming here for many years - and normally we are ahead but this time they ended up ahead.

Well I hope they do come back. We're clearly a lucky casino for them. There are six very, very happy guests who we cannot wait to welcome back to our properties.
