In-Running Lays: Back-to-lay Beyond Temptation, Final Assault and Pendra

Pendra

Above: Charlie Longsdon's Pendra is favourite for today's Sedexos Silver Cup at Ascot.

1.15 Ascot: Voix D’Eau looks to face quite a tough task taking on the talented Blue Fashion in trying to give him 7lb who finished second to the likes of More of That and Faugheen. What is in Voix D’Eau favour is his experience over fences and his race fitness while Blue Fashion will be making his chase debut which is his first run for 252 days. He has traded below at least half his BSP in all his six races Britain and should get a good pace to travel in behind before challenging late on; he currently trades around 3.90.

1.55 Newcastle: Beyondtemptation will likely be setting a very fast pace in this four runner handicap hurdle racing off just 10-3 with claimer Diarmuid O’Regan taking off a valuable 5lb in very testing conditions. While she has only registered 2 wins in 33 career starts she is a consistent front runner that has traded below at least half her BSP in-running in her last 4 runs and in two of those down to 1.77 and 1.37. She currently trades around 4.60 for a back-to-lay.

2.40 Haydock: Final Assault has traded below at least half his BSP in all but 2 of his starts including his last 9 races. He is usually ridden patiently at the rear of the field but seems to handle testing conditions well and usually races more prominently and with his three race wins coming on soft and heavy ground todays conditions will clearly suit. As usual Derek Fox rides taking off a valuable 3lb in testing ground; he currently trades around 7.20 for a back-to-lay.

3.00 Ascot: Both Wakanda and Pendra are likely to be upfront in this open handicap chase. Both are coming in to this race in great form with Wakanda on a 3-timer and Pendra looking to follow up his course and distance win here 7 weeks ago.

Pendra has traded below at least half his BSP in his last 8 runs having also won 3 of those races. He is favourite for the race at 13/2 with the bookmakers and is hovering around the same price on the exchanges around 7.40 for a back-to-lay. Wakanda has traded below at least half his BSP in-running in 12 of his last 14 runs and was beaten at 1.01 earlier this year at Newcastle. He seems very well supported on Betfair at 12.0 trading a point shorter than with the bookmakers so you could back him with the bookmakers at a bigger price and lock in a ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ offer if it does drift and a possible second place refund.
